Concrete Boom Pumps Are Great Money Savers For Construction Projects

Bookmark and Share
A concrete pump is a device used for transferring the liquid concrete by pumping. These pumps come in various sizes, but are usually big, industrial machines which are mostly used on the construction sites for pouring concrete in inaccessible areas where it is difficult for the usual concrete mixtures to pour concrete, such as upper stories of the building. These machines are designed to effectively and quickly feed concrete to such areas from large distance

Typically there are two types of concrete pumps; a line pump and a boom concrete pump.

The concrete line pumps are normally used in the small construction projects. They are portable and versatile units used for pumping not just the structural concrete but wet screeds, grout, foamed concrete, mortar and the sludge. A ball wall pumping system is extensively used in the line pumps. Such pumps are mostly used for
the structural concrete and for shotcreting (where concrete is placed using high pressure hose and is then compacted immediately) as low volume output is important requirement in such tasks. There are few hydraulically driven line pumps which can easily pump the structural concrete at huge outputs exceeding 135 m3/ hour. Such pumps are most preferred in small projects like sidewalk, swimming pools, ground slabs and single family home concrete slabs.
Concrete boom pumps on the other hand are big machines having a boom arm which holds the entire length of rubberized tubing, which is used for transportation of cement to the required destination on the construction side. Such pumps can easily pump the concrete to the vertical height up to 64 meters and have a horizontal reach of about 305 meters. The length of the pump's boom decides as to where the truck will stand from where the concrete is to be pumped. Therefore, such pumps are very useful in pouring the concrete in tall building with many stories and other construction works at great heights.

Today truck mounted boom pumps are also available in many sizes having boom lengths from 20- 65 meters and having a concrete output up to 180 m3 per hour at the pressures exceeding 80 bars. You can easily add telescopic booms to the concrete pumps to enable them to reach farthest of places. Many pumps on the large concrete pump trucks are operated using the truck engine in the power take off condition.

A boom concrete pump mounted on the trailer makes use of an articulating arm for pouring the concrete at exact location where it is desired. Such boom pumps can easily pump the concrete to the vertical height exceeding 66 m and have a horizontal reach of 305 m at the rates exceeding 45m3 each hour.

Concrete boom pumps are mostly used on big construction projects as they have the capability of pumping huge volumes thereby speeding up construction activities on the site and also saving good amounts of money as labor costs.
