The fair, only dedicated to those who work in this field, was born of the collaboration of UCIMA (Italian Packaging Machinery Manufactures Association) and Rimini Fiera Spa, will be held every three years, and the first edition took place between the 8th and the 11th June 2010. It was a brand new fair, but eager to gain a place in the sun among the fairs of this field, and to promote an industry that in Italy is particularly strong: Italy has been for many years one of the main manufacturers of packaging machines. The numbers of the investment speak for themselves: Rimini Fiera has allocated a budget of around one million euros for this event, which will take place in the third Italian fair quarter, in 8 pavilions, a total of 60,000 squares meters. The exhibitory spaces of Rimini have been chosen in preference to other cities (Bologna, for example, which has 200 companies working in the packaging field, and for this reason is called "packaging valley), because of their modernity and functionality (just to make and example, the fair quarter includes a railway station on the
Milan-Bari line, and 110 millions euro have been allocated to build the biggest conference building in Italy, with 9300 seats and 42 meeting rooms). The fairground has also a good reputation and experience in this field (Rimini Fiera has always played an important role in the organization of fairs displaying industrial machinery), and it is undeniable that the city is devoted to reception, with its long tradition in tourism and services. Moreover, the participation in the organization of the fair of UCIMA is a guarantee of solidity and success: UCIMA represents the Italian manufacturers of packing and packaging machinery, and gathers over 100 companies in the forefront specialised in different areas.
All these factors bode well for the success of a fair dedicated to a sector that, in spite of the crisis, does not seem to have suffered negative consequences, on the contrary: 2008 has been a positive year for the Italian industry of packing and packaging machines, as far as both the Italian and the international market is concerned. A new packaging fair meets the request of UCIMA to organise an event specifically dedicated to an industry that is very developed in Italy. In particular, the fair organizers aim at promoting the best innovations and technologies in this field, and to provide an exhaustive showcase of the various market areas: in the fair pavilions there were manufacturers of packaging machines, process machinery, packaging materials, technologies for labeling, coding and marking, accessories and components, technologies dedicated to logistics, publishing and printing industry and to printing machines, too.
Packology addresses to the companies that work in the field of packing and packaging for various areas, from the industry of consumer goods to health care, from beverage to the pharmaceutical industry, from chemistry to cosmetics industry, and promises to be an excellent showcase for all exhibitors.
