USB KVM Switch: Control multiple computers with one set of peripheral devices

A single set of USB peripherals can be used to control and manage multiple USB computers with the help of a USB KVM Switch. Available in 2, 4, 8, 16 and 32 port versions,this device is available in rack mountable and desktop versions. Commercial grade units can be daisy chained together to control a larger numbers of servers. Both versions can support high resolution video signals up to 1600 x 1200 and some units will also support the Native SUN resolution of 1152 x 900 with a bandwidth of 200MHz. While the 8, 16 and 32 port versions fit into a 1U form factor and can be used as a standalone device, they are also designed to be integrated into our 1U and 2U Rackmount USB KVM Drawer. Built to fit into a durable metal enclosure, this switch has many user friendly features.
The USB Switch is easy to install and operates on simple plug and play functionality. They do not require any software or device drivers for operation and this device is hot pluggable as the unit also has the ability to emulate PS2 mouse and keyboard connections. Equipped with an 8 character password protection for security, control can be exercised using the on-screen display menu, keyboard hotkeys, push buttons on the front of the unit or RS232. Offering multi platform support, these devices work with PCs, Mac, SUN Microsystems, IBM compatibles, HP, Compaq and Dell and come with necessary approvals from UL, CE and RoHS. Compatible with almost all operating systems, these switches have optional 12, 24 and 48 volt DC power. They operate by using microcontrollers and specialized hardware to capture the signals from peripheral devices, compress and convert these into packets, and send them over an Ethernet link to a remote console application that unpacks and reconstitutes the dynamic graphical image. Due to the flexibility of accessing systems remotely, this version of the USB KVM Switch is widely used in surveillance applications.
