The Taiwanese communications giants HTC have continued there Android Smartphone line with the HTC Desire! The Desire has a beautiful 3.7 inch AMOLED touch sensitive display with capacitive capabilities; it also sports the powerful Android 2.1 operating system. It boasts a digital camera, plenty of social networking options and it has a real professional feel, its appearance has similarities to the Nexus One, though rather than a uni-body design, HTC has neatly linked the smoothly finished panels together for a more diverse look.

The Android OS is supported by the perceptive HTC Sense UI overlay, it operates intuitively and collaborates well with the capacitive screen, allowing multi-touch functionality and giving you a top-notch user experience which more than rivals that of the Nexus One and possibly the Legend? With the Android 2.1comes the novelty of Live Wallpapers, these are animated wallpapers which are responsive to a touch of your finger, the time and even music. The Sense UI delivers another fantastic feature called Leap View, with a simple pinch of the screen you can get a full overview over all seven main screens, and we cant forget all these features are boosted by the in house 1GHz SnapDragon CPU. The device supports both Flash and soon to be DivX, the multimedia player can play a variety of video formats like mp4 and wmv in high resolution and a whole bunch of audio file types are playable too, including mp3, wav, wma and m4a, this makes the Desire a desirable entertainment device. The digital camera uses a 5 mega pixel lens to shoot both stills and videos, it can capture 5:3 widescreen images and has integrated auto focus, flash and geo-tagging feature, it shoots videos in WVGA 800 x 480 pixel resolutions and depending on conditions it can reach up to 30fps.

The Desire's connectivity and web browser have been given a lot of attention by HTC, it has 3G which allows for up to 7.2Mbps download speeds and Wi Fi delivers IEEE 802.11b/g. These connections are accompanied by a highly capable web browser, the Android browser offers pinch and zoom functionality thanks to the multi-touch and it works quickly and efficiently in all areas, it has a copy and paste function and the browser comes with a cool Bookmarks feature which displays your favourite sites in thumbnail images and saves your browsing history and recently visited sites. The gorgeous WVGA screen displays full web pages in incalculable detail and loading times in-between pages is practically non-existent, within the browser is a dedicated Flash browser which displays and plays embedded Flash videos you may find on your web travels. With these web capabilities comes strong social network links, there is Facebook and Twitter integration and HTC Peep for Twittering, video share is compatible with YouTube and photo's can be uploaded to Facebook, Twitter and Flickr, there is also a useful widget called Friendstream which combines all of your social network feeds and offers them up as an easily managed stream of updates, recent image posts and shared links, the Friendstream feature also allows you to post a single comment across all of your accounts. Messaging has also been given some attention with full e-mail compatibility and a full touch sensitive QWERTY keyboard is in place for quicker, easier typing especially when typing those longer messages.

The HTC Desire is a pure masterpiece where mobile technology is involved, it has full social network and e-mail capabilities, an intuitive web browser supported by strong connectivity and excellent entertainment facilities. It looks good with its stunning, capacitive 3.7 inch WVGA display and has good mass appeal. Its delivers to its lucky user a superior experience in all fields of usability and functionality...
